Sandro C. Esteves
"Sandro Esteves, MD, MSc, PhD, has been the Director of Androfert, Andrology and Human Reproduction Clinic, in Campinas, Brazil, since 1997. He is the founder of Androfert, the first Center dedicated for male reproduction in Brazil. Androfert is a Referral Center for Male Infertility and was the first Brazilian Human Reproduction Clinic to obtain ISO 9001:2008 certifications. Currently, he is a member of the Andrology Committee of the Brazilian Society for Human Reproduction, and a consultant of the Brazilian National Agency of Sanitary Surveillance (ANVISA) in the area of “Cells and Germinative Tissues”.
Dr. Esteves major interest areas are clinical male infertility, reproductive endocrinology, microsurgery, cryobiology, andrology and IVF laboratory techniques. He created the first hands-on microsurgery course for urologists in Brazil, sponsored by the Brazilian Society of Urology, which have trained over 200 urologists in the last years. Dr. Esteves has published more than 100 scientific articles and chapters in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks, and presented over 150 papers at both national and international scientific meetings. He is a member or office bearer of several professional societies including: Brazilian Society of Urology, Brazilian Society of Human Reproduction, Brazilian Society for Assisted Reproduction, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society for the Study of Male Reproduction and Urology. He is also an ad hoc reviewer for more than 10 scientific journals, and currently holds the position of Associate Editor of the International Brazilian Journal of Urology. Dr. Esteves is an active research collaborator at the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Reproductive Medicine. Among several awards, he received the “Thomas S. Chang Award” in 1998 from the American Society of Andrology and the “Reproductive Research Center´s Alumni of the Year Award” in 2006 from the Glickman Urological Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
